R’jaal has waited many turns of the seasons for his khui to resonate, only to be disappointed time and time again. But when he is taken captive by strange beings hiding in the very tunnels of the fruit caves, he wakes up to find himself in a strange underground cage.

Also in the cage? A very pretty unfamiliar human female. She says her name is Rosalind. She makes his khui sing.

It’s finally his time.

There’s a big problem, though — Rosalind has no khui of her own. And if she doesn’t get one soon, she could die.

Overnight, my life has changed to one of sheer survival.

And I’ve resonated to the biggest braggart on the planet. Skarr is a chest-beating alpha male gladiator with lizard genetics and an intense case of self-love. He tells everyone within hearing distance how amazing he is. Bleh.

I want nothing to do with him, but according to the khui, we’re soulmates. This means we’re bound to have babies and live our lives out together…forever…

Not if I have anything to say about it.

To survive, I’m going to have to figure out who I am, what I am…and what to do about the man who won’t shut up about how incredible and perfect I am.

I feel like an outsider wherever I go. Croatoan, the Icehome Beach…neither place is home to me. So when a group heads off to the fruit caves to investigate thievery, I go with them. Any excuse to get away from the beach, where I’ve made a fool of myself in front of my ex and his new mate.

Things go from bad to worse as I’m kidnapped by strangers. These new people have four arms, long fluffy tails, and arching horns. They aren’t like any aliens I’ve seen before, and they live in the warm caverns below the mountains. They should be the enemy. I should hate them for snatching me.

But the chief’s son says I’m the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen…

When the clone pods were abandoned on the ice planet, two of them opened before the others. Corvak, a gladiator and a splice, ran into the snows. He carried Aidy, a confused human woman. They’re on the run, determined not to get caught.

Aidy has no idea what’s going on or why she’s been dumped in the icy mountains. Corvak, however, is convinced this is all one big gladiator game, and one he’s determined to win. To do that, they’ll have to avoid all the others and survive by any means possible.

Why do they need this parasite anyhow…and why do their chests keep humming?

Resonance is supposed to be like finding your other half.

I’m not sure how that’s going to work, considering that I already feel like I’m only half of who I’m supposed to be. I’ve lost my memories of Earth. I can only recall fragments of a rich cultural heritage that I want back more than I want to resonate.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be in the cards.

Instead of returning my memories, fate has decided that I should resonate to cat-like Valmir, the most unlikable gladiator stranded on this planet alongside the human clones. He thinks I should take him to my furs, but I think I’d rather fling myself into the ocean. To stall the inevitable, I make a honey-do list for Valmir. If he completes a task for me, I’ll let him win a bit of my attention. A flirty touch here, a quick caress there. It’ll buy me time to figure out who I really am.

And in the meantime, it’s rather fun to make Valmir squirm…
